Great wardrobe – super make-up – and even a cool location are the things that can make for an awesome photograph of one of our clients. However sometimes the element that makes a portrait really pop is the position and angle of the body.
I work my models and clients to get them into poses and expressions that bring their portraits to a higher level. Sure… a big beautiful smile is fantastic but even more so is a “look away” facial pose or a “back over the shoulder” at the camera. Sometimes it’s a fierce pose that is far from the ordinary that really grabs attention.
Whenever you are working with a Photographer try to add that little something extra to you poses. One of my favorite photo assistants tells our models that if the pose hurts it’s going to look really good !!! hahahahaha but often quite true.
